Here’s what we’re looking for from new applicants:

  • New applicants are those in their final year of secondary school or completing their post-secondary education.
  • A minimum of 200 volunteering hours within two years of the application deadline.
  • Applicants must have a minimum score of B (A-levels/AS-levels), 6/B (GCSE) or equivalent if they're in secondary school, and a minimum module mark of 60-64 (or institutional equivalent) if they're in post-secondary school.
  • Applicants must be enrolling in a (minimum) two-year, full-time undergraduate programme of study at an accredited university or vocational or technical institutions in the United Kingdom in the Autumn of 2024.
  • The applicant, their parent, legal guardian, grandparent or spouse must be a current Foresters member.
  • Applicants must be of the age 24 years or under at the time of the application through to the time payment is issued. Members who are applying do not have to be 24 years old or younger but must meet all other eligibility requirements.

Here’s what we’re looking for from returning candidates:

  • Returning candidates are those who have earned or applied for the scholarship in previous years.
  • A minimum of 50 volunteering hours of community within one year of the returning candidate application deadline.
  • Applicants must have a minimum module mark of 55-59 (or institutional equivalent).
  • Must be enrolled in full-time studies in the academic year they are applying as a returning applicant in the UK.
  • The applicant, their parent, legal guardian, grandparent or spouse must be a current Foresters member.
  • Applicants must be of the age 24 years or under at the time of the application through to the time payment is issued. Members who are applying do not have to be 24 years old or younger but must meet all other eligibility requirements.

When to apply

Foresters Competitive Scholarship has one application window. Both new and returning candidate applications are open from:

4 December 2023 to 30 April 2024

Applicants will be notified of their award status in the first week of June 2024.

If selected for a scholarship, recipients must accept or decline the scholarship by the deadline indicated on the acceptance form. If that deadline is missed, recipients risk forfeiting their scholarship.

Scholarship funds are issued by 31 October 2024.
